Proper Summer Care Cools Down Seniors

With summer here again and Father's Day just around the corner, many of us have already started enjoying the outdoors more than we have during the past few months. But that doesn't mean we've been enjoying it like we should-- proper summer care isn't always indicated just by the way you feel, as many senior heart attacks and strokes happen out in the sun despite victims saying afterwards that they "felt fine" just moments before the attack.

At A-1 Home Care, you'll find that achieving proper summertime safety isn't difficult-- but it is necessary for self-preservation. After all, failing to do things like staying hydrated and getting plenty of rest at night can come back to haunt you when you're out in the sun.

Take a look at a few summertime tips that just might save your life, provided by our expert A-1 Home Care staff below:

  • Stay Hydrated-- drink at least eight glasses of water daily, especially with the warmer weather now in full swing. Doing so could be the difference between passing out-- or worse-- and a fun time beneath the sun.
  • Get Plenty Of Sleep-- get at least seven hours of sleep each night, or you run the risk of being overly fatigued and fainting because your body is caught playing catch up.
  • Listen To Your Body-- if you're not feeling motivated to get outside and enjoy a nice summer stroll, then you probably shouldn't-- and if you feel pain or discomfort, you definitely shouldn't, as listening to your body is paramount to staying healthy.
For more information about the leading senior care services you'll find anywhere, give A-1 Home Care a call today at (949) 650-3800. We're proud to serve clients from around the Orange County and Los Angeles areas, including in cities like Burbank, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Calabasas, and Diamond Bar.

Protect Senior Loved Ones this Summer with 24 Hour Caregivers

Newport is a great place to be this summer. With beautiful beaches lining up to crisp waters, and parks available for its residents, it's hard not to want to go out and enjoy the sun. However, Southern California weather, though famous for having year round pleasant temperatures, does tend to experience increases every year. Temperatures can even go as high as 100 degrees, which is particularly harmful for infants, but especially for elderly seniors. Their bodies are not able to withstand such extremes, and so they may suffer dizzy spells or falls as a result.

Since the summer is also a busy season, it can be difficult for people to find someone that will be constantly available to watch older family members. So if you're in need of a reliable 24 hour live in or in home caregiver, look no further than A-1 Home Care. We've been in the business since 1991 and have developed a reputation among our customers as the top provider of professional Senior caregivers. We recruit only the caregivers who have 2 or more years of caregiving experience in order to ensure that our customers are in safe hands. Not only can our caregivers administer Elder Care services, but they are also trained in providing Companion Care, Arthritis Care, and more.

Call our office now at 949 650 8400 to give your loved ones the caregiver they deserve. Check out our page at Newport Beach In Home Care and like us on Facebook!

How to find an elder law attorney/ Elder Law & Conservatorship

What are your favorite things to do on a weekend in Newport Beach? The city is full of sights and sounds by the sea. Beautifully manicured homes sit in light encrusted rows facing the majestic ocean. A bustling community with excellent neighborhood associations and senior activities always has things going on.

However, how do things change when the senior you love is not longer able to care for himself? Then your options become more limited.

It's hard to watch someone you love lose memory or function because of diseases like Alzheimer or Parkinson. However, if your spouse of parent is showing signs of these illnesses, it's best to face them head on instead of avoiding the issue. A good elder care attorney can help sort out issues such as future care plans, daily living preferences, health care and more.

Our agency has worked with plenty of families and elders who have hired elder law attorneys. Please visit the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys for more information, at www.naela.com.

A-1 Home Care has provided excellent in home care services for elderly clients since 1991. We offer live in and hourly caregiving in the cities of Newport BeachLaguna BeachCorona Del MarFountain ValleyHuntington BeachSeal BeachLos Alamitos, and others in Orange County.

National Glaucoma Awareness Month/ A-1 Home Care

Did you know that January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month?

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the U.S. It most often occurs in adults and elders over age 40.  People with a family history of glaucoma, African Americans over the age of 40, and Hispanics over the age of 60 are at an increased risk of developing glaucoma. Other risk factors include thinner corneas, chronic eye inflammation, and using medications that increase the pressure in the eyes.

Though there aren't any cures for Glaucoma, there are an array of treatments that can slow, and treat the painful side effects of this illness. A-1 Home Care encourages seniors to consult their doctors regarding these medical options.

A-1 Home Care has provided excellent in home care services for elderly clients since 1991. We offer live in and hourly caregiving in the cities of Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, and others in Orange County.
